BLIZZARD BAGS
The Louisville Board of Education has adopted the Ohio Department of Education’s Blizzard Bag policy. This policy allows the district three additional calamity days with the caveat that students are working on classroom assignments at home during this time.
HOW IT WORKS
When the district experiences a calamity day, teachers post assignments online for students to complete. Students are given two weeks to turn in the assignment, and once it’s completed, students receive credit for that day of class. One of the benefits of the program is that students receive work from every class, and those without Internet access can receive the assignments when they return to school.
We believe this program is a positive and proactive way to deal with the uncertainty surrounding winter weather. Through the Blizzard Bags Program, we can keep our students learning even while they’re at home.
